To showcase their fight for the passing of Anti-Discrimination Bill, equality, and diversity for the LGBT community, UP Lipad in partnership with the University Student Council (USC), conducted their second Pride March on Thursday.
The participating students chanted several declarations of their advocacy as they marched from the UPV dorm area to the Miagao town proper, and finally to the New Administration Building where they gathered for the Pride Program.
During the said program, students shared statements aiming to empower members of the LGBT community.
According to Reymund Alagos, Lawin (Vice Chairperson for External Affairs, UP Lipad), their advocacy hasn’t changed over the years: it’s still for the rights, equality, and diversity of the members of the LGBT community.
However, despite this advocacy, Alagos disclosed that problems still exist within the community. “Meron pa rin kasing ‘faction-faction’… ‘yung nagsisiraan pa rin,” he said. He hopes that this particular problem will be solved through strengthening the bonds among its members.
This is the second Pride March organized by UP Lipad.
