After a thrilling and intense Pahampang season, the School of Technology (SoTech) was declared the overall champion this year. The awarding ceremony, conducted by the University Student Council, was held at the UPV auditorium on October 29, Friday.
SoTech clinched the title after winning the championship games in men’s football, women’s volleyball, women’s darts, and women’s chess. The academic organization also placed second in men’s volleyball, women’s marathon, and men’s chess while also garnering third place in women’s table tennis, women’s and men’s badminton and track.
“I think the main reason na nagdaog ang SoTech this year is because of the collective effort na ginhatag sang tanan. And all throughout the Pahampang season ara gid ang SOTECH spirit,” said Shaira Gadot, SoTech governor.
(I think the main reason why SoTech won this year is because of the collective effort that everyone gave. And all throughout the Pahampang season, the SoTech spirit was really there.)
Meanwhile, after winning for four consecutive years, the Elektrons of the Division of Physical Science and Mathematics and the Department of Chemistry, were not able to defend the overall championship title. This year, they finished a place behind SoTech.
Ugyon, a non-academic organization composed of teaschers and staff, was declared as the second runner-up.
Tycoons, Fisheries, Magnates, Clovers, Redbolts and Scions placed third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth place, respectively. Skimmers maintained their rank in the tenth place.
Jessica Valderama (Elektrons) and Julius Martin Rivera (SoTech) were also hailed as Athletes of the Year.
